As a native Californian, he has mastered the multicultural aspects of the tourism industry, benefiting from living in a state that fosters interactions with people from diverse cultures.
His mother tongue is English, and he is fluent in Spanish, French, and Japanese. Lance has over 30 years of experience working for major U.S. airlines, which has allowed him to travel to many countries as part of his career. His marriage to a Japanese colleague deepened his interest in Asian cultures, leading him to move to Japan in 2015. He has since developed a strong understanding of Japanese culture.
